It’s the Worst Time of the Year

by Wendy on 1 February 2010

We have now come to that terrible day, that awful day where I question how and why I have become so caught up in the cancerous clutches of mass media, so enslaved to the onerous and empty customs of modern society.

That’s right. I finally took down the stupid Christmas decorations today.

I distinctly remember having a date pick me up for V-day and he made fun of our 10 foot tree with no decorations or lights. That’s why I just hang a wreath on the door, but I don’t have kids.

When we didn’t have kids we had a 24″ tree that didn’t have to be un-decorated, LOL.

It’s so much fun putting it up… such a PITA taking it all down…

My family always took the decorations down on New Year’s Day.

And then my father always stared down his nose at everyone who hadn’t. Sometimes for months.

Hubby says their tree was often still up on his birthday (it was yesterday) growing up. I remember our tree being up sometimes on MY birthday (in March) when I was growing up. I guess we both come from procrastinators. I hate procrastinating, and hate when I do it. I was hoping it would not take long & I would yet again realize that I had put off something that was actually simple.

But alas, no, this was not the case. It took forever.
