My 80-year-old Grandma is running circles around me.
This is a little embarrassing, y’all.
While I was checking my email she went out in 100-degree weather wearing a jogging suit and swept every square inch of concrete in the back yard. It’s like 2,000 square feet of concrete, and she did it in around 9 minutes. This is what I emailed my dad while she was doing it:
If she kills herself I just want you to know that I spent all afternoon trying to keep her from doing this, but she finally found the broom.
I went out to help her with the driveway when I realized what she was doing and ended up completely worn out and covered in sweat. I’m recovering now, as I write this.
She’s busy doing something else. I don’t think it even made her tired.

Sounds like something my grandmother would have done.

That’s because she probably churned her own butter and walked uphill both ways to school every day and had to wash and dry her own clothes, all by hand.
NOTHING is easy and if you say it is then you’re just lazy.
Wait, is that me or my mother typing???

The older generations have a thing about cleanliness. I guess they didn’t have anything else to do, like the internet.

I hope I’m as fit as your grandma is. And I wouldn’t want to go head to head with her on the elliptical machine at the Y. I think she would have me screaming uncle after an hour.

I meant to say as fit as your grandma when I’m in my 60s. I do think she might be able to whup me on the elliptical right now, though.

Good for her. In the meantime, it looks a bit dismal for the two of us haha. (When was the last time I went out to work out in the slightest?!)
Thanks for the comforting words you left me on the blog about my going away party… I was astonished at the story you told me about your wedding! Shame on them!!!
