Today we’re supposed to hit 101 degrees. That is before they fool around with the so-called heat index, which basically means it is as hot as the ovens of hell here today.
My husband corrected me this morning. He said, “the proper Oklahoma oil field terminology for a day like today is ‘hotter than a 3-balled tom cat.’”
Alrighty then.

HIlarious. Our local paper here in hot as hell Houston has been politically keeping the forecast temperatures at 99. Since our thermometer has been registering 104 routinely, and we live OUTSIDE the city, where it’s always a little cooler, that 99 is clearly just wishful thinking.
Or perhaps the page designers just didn’t think about adding that extra column?

Yesterday it was 117 with that mystyrious heat index in Rolla, Mo which is about one hour further away from the city than I am. Guess who just wants to sit in an icebath??? That.would.be.me.
Yeee-haw. And here we are all melting at 85 degrees. Someone should invent the “air conditioned suit”. They’d make a fortune in your part of the world

We’re just outside Houston, too. My car thermometer read 106 yesterday between 5-7 p.m. On the highways home hubby’s car stayed at 111. I’m sure it is hotter on the pavement, but still!
My MIL is addicted to the Weather Channel and they are saying we have a weather pattern set up here that is unlikely to be broken except by a ‘tropical event’. GREAAAAT.
